Cal Lutheran Cares Day 2026

The Fifty and Better program began in April 2020 and over the years has grown into a robust year-round program offering courses, lectures, museum & points of interest tours, as well as activity classes (Qigong, Tai Chi, Chair Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Water Color and Zumba Gold).  Over half of the courses and lectures are offered in the HyFlex format (meaning FAB students can choose to attend in-person or virtually).  We also offer virtual tours and some virtual activities so that our students with mobility issues and those from out of the area are included. Additionally, we host food collections to support Cal Lutheran’s Community Cupboard, toy collections (with the Veteran’s Resource Office) and participate with the United Way of Ventura County’s backpack “Stuff the Bus” campaign.  FAB supports lifelong learners mostly in their late 60s through their 90s – an important growing segment of our community.  We have served over 2000 individuals with over 29,000 enrollments (just in courses and lectures alone).  We do our best to thoughtfully support all of our students with exceptional customer service.

FAB’s students often dream about learning the subjects they never got to take in their earlier years, touring museums and points of interest with an expert guide and seeing the artwork or architecture through a new lens.  They dream of longevity.  As social circles decrease, they dream of new connections.  By engaging their minds and bodies, FAB helps our lifelong learners’ dreams take flight.  

FAB is funded by fees and gifts, and we need both to keep the program going. 

By keeping our fees reasonable, each year we have a funding gap.  We need your help to close that gap so that we can continue to offer year-round programming and enhance our support.
